Hi, new to this forum & it's been extremely helpful-- so thank you.
Last month, I received my very own letter from Getty & using the information on this forum, formed an appropriate response to them.
I have now received a second letter and, of course, they don't provide any of the "proof" or information I requested... which I'm not surprised, seeing that this seems to be their typical response.
What I found interesting, though, is that they claim to have received an email from me-- which is funny, because I never once emailed them. Only sent them a letter the good old fashion way.
I'm guessing it was some misstep on their part with whatever standard response they use and tweak.

My experience is that Getty sends out so many letters and gets so many responses and is so understaffed with minimum wage and incompetent "compliance officers" that a lot of the time the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. It doesn't surprise me a bit that you were told they had an email from you that you didn't send. In fact, nothing about Getty Images' speculative invoicing and copyright extraction scheme surprises me anymore.

Mulligan nailed it....and also add that now they are dealing with complaints to the AG office almost on a daily basis..

Haha Yeah that's what I figured.
I forgot to also point out that they completely misspelled my name in their response letter.
Good ol'Getty

I had filed complaints against them with the Washington State Attorney General's Office, the BBB, the FTC and my Congressman and Senator, in their response to my compliant to these agencies they got the name of my company wrong as well as the amount they were asking for. They wanted 875.00 and in their letters they told all these agencies they were asking for 8,750.00 and there were lots of other errors I took them to task for in my follow up letters.
This is just typical Getty.

I wish there was an easy way to #tag threads on this forum. That way I could tag every thread that mentions some of the amatuer-hour antics that Getty Images chooses to employ when they try to collect. If they don't know if you replied via email or letter or have the amount they are collecting wrong by a factor of TEN, how are we to believe that they even control the rights to the images they claim to represent.
Threads like this will be tagged with #GettyFlubs from now on.

Better add more storage space on the servers then, #GettyFlubs will fill it up fast. ;) ;D
