Got the letter...

I had sent this via email but hadn't heard anything for 72 hours so I am posting here to make sure it got through

Hi Oscar,

Yesterday I received 'the letter' from Getty. I wanted to ask your advice because I believe our case may be different from most of them. I run a martial arts school, the Korean Academy of Taekwondo. (www.kattaekwondo.com) In 2005 one of my friends was working for www.dynamic-korea.com, which is part of the Korean Embassy in the US. He interviewed our school for an article on the modernization of the art of Taekwondo. The article was then posted on their site. I asked for permission to do a screen capture of the article and host it on our site. I like to keep a local copy of press clippings because you never know when an external site is going to go down. The letter from Getty references two images that the Korean Embassy used in its header, which is now on our site. I assume that the Korean Embassy licensed the images correctly, and they gave us permission to store a copy of the article they wrote about us. Please advise me on this situation. Can someone who stores a copy of a news story written about them be liable for the copyrights of images used in the header for that news organization?

I would be happy to pay you to write a letter to Getty if this is what you think would be best. I will also take the images down from our site.

2 images for $1,750. total.
