ELI followers know this is not the first time ELI has had to deal with bogus DMCA takedown notices. We have successfully restored nearly every document that was taken down. I expect this will be no different.

Presumably, the folks at Copyright Defense League (Dan B. Levine and Randy G. Taylor) thinks they have actually accomplished something with their DMCA complaint to Scribd. They will soon see this will backfire on them.

Copyright extortionists cannot cover their tracks this easily. I have made a formal request to Scribd to disclose the identity of the original complainer and will post those results once I receive them.

Not the best way for CDL to start off their New Year.  "Hey, lets go stir up ELI and see what happens."  This could be fun.... ;)

I sent Scribd a DMCA Counter-notifcation letter on January 15, 2013 regarding Randy Taylor's ridiculous DMCA complaint letter.

You can read the letter here:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/120423036/Scribd-DMCA-Counter-Notification-Letter-Randy-Taylor

Today, February 6, 2013 I received a notification from Scribd that the original uploaded document has been restored.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/105749961/Copyright-Defense-League-Settlement-Agreement-Release

Apparently, my counter-notification letter went uncontested. No surprise there. This begs the question, who will be the next stupid copyright extortionist that will waste my time and try to bury the very extortion letters they send out (where we end up getting a copy to share with the public)?

It's very rare for these conflicts to be an actual matter of law.
So, the battle is over the dissemination of facts via the social media platform.
We win every time by using the true facts and with persistence.

That Star Trek photo is WINNING!

I wonder if people like Randy Taylor and the Copyright Defense League realize that with every DMCA takedown notice they give all of us something to comment on? It's like they want to help us to build traffic and get OUR message out.

Guess what site currently has the top three rankings for a google search for "Copyright Defense League DMCA. " Okay I'll tell you: extortionletterinfo.com.

I want to hear more about Randy Taylor's/CSI's homebrew "copyright office".
You know, the one wherein you can "guess" which images are "orphaned" on the Internet and claim them.

This topic is pretty old but I think I may have discovered something while doing my own research recently.  It seems there are some bogus blogs filled with nonsense that exist to catch searches for things related to Copyright Defense League and its owners.  What do you all make of these links (Do a search for the term "Copyright Defense League" on these pages when you get there):

http://copyrightdefenseleaguenews.com
http://castings4uauditions.com/
http://bull5voice.wordpress.com/tag/dan-b-levine-copyright-defense-league/
https://danblevinecopyrightsurfer.wordpress.com/tag/randy-taylor-copyright-defense-league/
http://levinedansurf.wordpress.com/tag/copyright-defense-league/
http://danblevinewhoishe.wordpress.com/tag/copyright-defense-league/
http://jkaslomki.wordpress.com/tag/copyright-defense-league/
http://levinebdannygolf.blog.co.uk/2013/06/12/three-birdies-16115357/
http://danblevine.com/tag/copyright-defense-league/

There may be more, but these are clogging up some of the results when I search within the last month or less.  Seems like it could be a tactic to distract people and keep them from landing here at pages like this.

Additionally, there are these odd directory type sites that I have never come across before:

http://searchdomainhere.com/Arts/
http://familydir.com/Arts
http://www.directoryanalytic.com/index.php?c=1
http://ecodir.net/Arts/
http://www.afunnydir.com/arts_humanities/
http://www.linkedin-directory.com/index.php?c=1
http://www.apeopledirectory.com/index.php?p=h

If this is what it seems like to me, it may be the most thorough search blocking attempt I have ever seen someone make.
