SuperStock Settlement Demand Letter
« on: April 29, 2012, 02:15:54 AM »
We have yet another stock photo extortion letter to share.  Someone submitted to us a copy of the SuperStock Extortion Letter.  SuperStock is based in Jacksonville, FL.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/91698746/SuperStock-Settlement-Demand-Letter

$2200 for a single image. It is similar to the pricing of a Masterfile claim. The SuperStock extortion letter is signed by Chris Taylor, General Counsel for RGB Ventures LLC.  RGB Ventures LLC appears to have been formed on January 16, 2009. The partners in the RGB Ventures LLC are:

ZIERING, LANNY (Top dog & registered agent)
BAILEY, ALAN K
BAEZ, GUSTAVO
ANDERSON, MARK
COHEN, STEWART
GIRALDO, ALBA

http://www.corporationwiki.com/Florida/Jacksonville/rgb-ventures-llc/28465947.aspx

http://www.sunbiz.org/corinam.html (Type in RGB Ventures)

SuperStock is a fictitious name filed on February 14, 2009 and used by RGB Ventures LLC.

http://www.sunbiz.org/scripts/ficidet.exe?action=DETREG&docnum=G09048900115&rdocnum=G09048900115

And if the SuperStock Extortion Letter isn't effective enough to collect payment, it gets escalated to Attorney Rob T. Cook from St. Augustine, Florida.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/91699012/Attorney-Rob-T-Cook-Settlement-Demand-Letter

As you can see, Attorney Rob T. Cook's extortion letter is very short and basic. I have been informed by BuddhaPi that he has quite a bit of information he wants to share regarding this "new" lawyer, Rob T. Cook.

Actually was not able to find anything out of the ordinary in regards to Rob Cook the attorney working with Shutter Stock SuperStock, like the rest of the copyright trolling lawyers, he has very little online presence.. I like to look at my "research" as not only helping the ELI communitiy, but I'm also helping them get some exposure!  ;D

Rob Cook's law firm is your one stop shop for as it seems just about any area of litigation.. A regular "Jack of All Trades"! aka "Ambulance Chaser", and one of his ads "No Fees OR Costs, Unless Recovery Is Made"

Personal Injury
Auto Accidents
Truck Accidents
Boating Accidents
Slip & Fall
Trip & Fall
Maritime/Admiralty Law
Insurance Disputes
Intellectual Property/Copyright
Small Business Disputes
Property Disputes
State & Federal Litigation
Contract Disputes
Real Estate Disputes
Probate (Litigation Only)
Fiduciary Claims

Now this is just my opinion, but I would guess that the reason he's has jumped into copyright trolling is pretty simple and self evident, he has broken the "Law of Line Extension" which simply put is spreading oneself to thin and trying to specialize in to many area's whereas they all suffer the consequences..but I degress from the marketing lesson...Onward to the good stuff..

"Robby" Thomas Cook was admitted to the Florida Bar 03/29/2002 and has no discipline history..
http://www.floridabar.org/names.nsf/0/6EF47B5C662CF46F85256BA70044379D?OpenDocument

A quick Google Search yields very little online presence other than the standard listing pages ( which I don't find surprising, as he's just another unexperienced attorney in the Getty/Picscout stable.....This is strictly my opinion as I don't have a clue how much "experience" he has, but I feel I should clearly state this lest someones panties get in a knot)

Here is his linked in profile for those that are curious: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/rob-cook/8/15a/593

I see there are only 68 connections, further backing up the no online presence to speak of theory, and also of interest it states:

Honors and Awards: Too Numerous to list

Now if it were me and I was getting awards and honors I'd be sharing this with everybody and anybody, but maybe that just me and my ginormous ego, not to mention the fact that I cannot find a single case with his name or any experience listed anywhere...you'd think some of these "wards and honors" would be referenced somewhere on the internet..nope..

For some reason I always picture these big time heavy handed attorneys, working in these really nice offices on the top floor, with all of the plush interiors and furnishings, gilded artwork..I guess I can forget that image now.

I can only assume that Mr Rob Cook P.A. from St Augustine Florida has a valid license to be showing this image on his facebook page, afterall he is a copyright attorney and would most likely know about these types of things. Or maybe Shutter Stock SuperStock "comped him"

It's also worth noting how in Mr Rob Cooks letter he basically finds the recipient guilty by stating "As a result of this confirmed infringement..."

Where is the proof backing up this statement: "Superstocks' business has been injured..."

I also like how they request insurance information, thinking this may be an easier way for them collect with any fight...

As usual, ironies abound when trying to learn more about copyright trolls like Rob Cook, Attorney At Law P.A.

On his LinkedIn page, in addition to the awards and awards "Too numerous to list," Attorney Rob Cook reveals:

Interests:
    The Practice of Law
    Fishing

First, how can one with a straight face claim to "practice law" when that person is twisting statutes to extort outrageous sums of money from other people? Copyright trolling has nothing to do with the honorable tradition of practicing law and those who say it does are lying to themselves.

Regarding Rob Cook's other interest...

Fishing! Yeah, judging from the outrageous extortion letter Rob T. Cook sent, this man definitely enjoys his fishing. I just hope the people he's trying to use a settlement demand letter to extort money from will tell him to go cut bait.

It turns my stomach to see so many lawyers taking part in these "extrajudicial business model" scams. It's no wonder so many people would kiss a frog before they'd hug a lawyer, with Oscar being the notable exception, of course.

Yes, very nice work by SEO zen masters BubbahPi and Matt. A search for "superstock demand letter" pretty much leads here and to that video.

I wonder if in future videos you might want to include the city and state of the troll-attorney. That way it will help people searching for information about a law practice to see what sort of business they are in.
Although I may be a super-genius, I am not a lawyer. So take my scribblings for what they are worth and get a real lawyer for real legal advice. But if you want media and design advice, please visit Motion City at http://motioncity.com.

This will be taken under consideration...ok I've considered it and it will be added to future videos and other SEO tricks!

I would not consider myself an SEO expert or any of those distinctive titles. I would consider myself of a "web presence strategist" that happens to result in very good SEO results. It is only one piece of the ever-expanding ELI presence machine. I do things that many SEO specialists don't.  I don't study technical aspects of SEO like the SEO techie guys do.  I take a somewhat different view and approach which appears to have held up across the years.

I simply focus on good content, getting known for something, taking a strong position, build leverage, and then letting the right technology tools do their thing.

A small mention of my other business interest:  http://webdominationstrategies.com. It is something I want to write more about. I have quite a few free Web Domination Strategies videos describing how I view things on Youtube for those interested.

I just realized I called buddhapi by the name of BubbahPi. LOL Wow... all I can say is I didn't have much coffee at that point. My intent was to popularize the correct pronunciation of your screen name. I always read it as Budd-Happy until I spoke to Matt one time. Now I realize it is Buddha-Pi. But Bubba-Pi? Where do I get off!?!

To funny. When I read "Sloopy" I impulsively started singing (in my mind, not out loud, thankfully) "Haaaang on Sloopy. Sloopy hang on."
