UJB wrote his testimonial letter directly to the judge! UJB asked me to redact his name and identifying information before posting his letter publicly.

As with all the testimonial letters submitted so far, I want the judge to see the opinions of so many from all over the U.S. and even outside the U.S.
I'm a non-lawyer but not legally ignorant either. Under the 1st Amendment, I have the right to post facts & opinions using rhetorical hyperbole, colloquialisms, metaphors, parody, snark, epithets, & profanity. Under Section 230 of CDA, I'm only responsible for posts I write, not what others write.

Great idea UJB. I just did the same. I think we should send these directly to the judge. I haven't found the email for this judge yet.

Unless Matthew or Oscar ask us to, I don't think emailing the judge is a good idea.  I know it would piss me off if I were the judge.  I looked at his docket online and he is a busy dude.  The last thing he needs is random emails

I addressed my letter to him be cause he is the one I am making a request of.

I know Matthew will present the letters to him.

FYI folks, more letters are needed.  It takes all of 15 minutes to send it to Matthew via email and 30 if you do a formal letter.

How can we ask Matthew to be the face of our cause and not even be willing to write a letter when he asks us to

Please do not email or mail the judge at all!  That isn't a good thing to do. He isn't supposed to receive any evidence from either party unless both parties are present.  The best thing to do is send or email the letters to me.  I promise you I have every incentive to present every document and letter that supports my position and what we do.

I have a good case. We don't need to do anything that could potentially upset the judge before I appear on Feb. 28, 2013.

As UJB says, the more letters I have, the better.  Additional financial contributions is appreciated and will help me offset the financial hit and stress I am taking by essentially suspending work on my mainline business for nearly 2 weeks. I am doing a tremendous amount of printing, sorting, stapling, typing, and other menial work to prepare.  Essentially, I am being my own secretary.

Oscar and I are working both together and independently on the case law, legal arguments, cross-examination, presentation, etc. I am working hard to digest all the legal material/arguments Oscar is presenting to me and actively preparing and organizing my Notes and Exhibits.

I haven't had to prepare so hard for a court case in many years. (Although I did work pretty hard on convincing the IRS to abate my late filing fees for my business.)

I am determined to win by a solid margin. I don't want to simply squeak by. I want to be prepared for anything Linda and her legal team might throw at me plus a whole lot more.

I never really considered myself the "face" of the Linda Ellis extortion cause. I thought April was. But for these couple of weeks (at the very least), it is definitely me having to fight this fight in the same courtroom against Linda and her team.

Like Oscar said in another post, we both feel good that I have a good support team. I am getting valuable support on many aspects:  moral, emotional, legal, financial, analytical, time, energy, publicity, etc.

In the nearly 5-year history ELI has been around, this is definitely the first time I've had to go up legally against someone because of my work and association with ELI.  Up until last week, there were a few legal threats made by various copyright extortionists over the years but no actual lawsuits, hearings, or court case.

Win, lose, or draw, things will never quite be the same again. Linda opened a real Pandora's box here and it has compelled the ELI Community to unite against a common foe like its never had to before.  It isn't the end of the world if I "lost" but absolutely no one here wants a copyright extortionist to win especially someone like Linda.

Keep the letters coming!

The one and only S.G. has submitted his ELI Testimonial Letter. As always, he cuts through the bull to the core issues.  Thanks, SG!
