Soylent,

Here's a press release regarding a $2.6 million judgment that Riddick got against IMSI in 2000.

http://www.allbusiness.com/media-telecommunications/internet-www/6402187-1.html

Apparently a schedule was set out for payment over a few years. Based on later court papers, he became desperate for cash in 2002 and started trying to strong-arm them into paying him faster. It's mentioned in this 2002 financial report where they accuse him of harrassing and extorting them, trying to change the terms of the payment schedule set out in the 2000 judgement.

That, according to the following press release, was settled in 2003...

His desperation for money may have been to fund his appeal of a declaratory relief judgement granted to Xoom (cited in the Bernina case - the original complaint is exhibit D in this document Matthew posted... http://www.scribd.com/doc/36769967/Bernina-vs-Riddick-Imageline-081810-17-1 ).

I have not seen the trial court's ruling, but Riddick did appeal it and it went to the 4th Circuit.  The 4th Circuit's ruling on Riddick's appeal can be found here.

He tried to appeal it to the Supreme Court, but they refused to hear his appeal and let the 4th Circuit's judgement stand.

Some people told Riddick to go piss up a rope. He then came back with a lawyer and sued them. He filed 9 or 10 law suits over the last year and change.

He got the SIAA to back some of the suits, got contingency lawyers on others. Whether or not he can win, he can force you into bankruptcy just paying for the legal team to fight him, which has allowed him to get settlements from companies and individuals just happy to be done with it. And he appears to count a settlement as a win, even if all he got were pennies and promises.

The sad thing is that our laws make it possible for Riddick to terrorize small players without repercussions, simply because they can't afford to fight back the way Bernina is doing. I hope Bernina wins, wins any appeals, and wins hard enough to put Riddick out of business for good.

Riddick/Imageline Letter Forum / Riddick's Respect For The IP of Others
« on: August 21, 2010, 04:24:50 AM »
Some people on the Riddick forum have pointed out that he's 3 months from his "coming soon" message being a full year out of date. Others may have noted that he let the registration on imageline2.com lapse for weeks, during which time the site was offline.

Something I have not seen noted, the "more" link on the front page of imageline2.com. it's in light-colored letters in the upper left corner of the body content. It leads to... http://imageline2.com/index0909C.htm

Basically, here Riddick outlines 5 business initiatives he was planning to unveil last fall. The fourth initiative he calls "LogoWorks DYOL". The name sounded familiar, so I ran LogoWorks through TESS, the trademark search engine at uspto.gov. "LogoWorks" is a trademark of Hewlett Packard and the way in which Riddick claims he is going to use it seems to me to be a clear and blatant violation of that trademark.

Also, regarding the coming soon... when he first contacted me in 2008, he had that coming soon message up and it was out of date. For a while he'd update it every time it got a month or three out of date. Now it just seems he's given up.
