Hi,
Sorry if I'm a bit late on the up take, but I had no idea that Getty had purchased sxc.hu.
The site is a subsidiary of HAAP Media, which was the stock photography division of Dream Interactive.[4] In 2008, HAAP was acquired by the stock photo company Jupiterimages. In February 2009 Jupiterimages was purchased by Getty Images,[5] and the stock photo operations of SXC became a joint venture between Getty and Dream Interactive.[6] In December 2009 the founders decided to sell their remaining interest in the sites[7] and later started a similar service, Stockfresh[8].

I have been using sxc.hu for a lot of years and have a decent image library on my computer of images that I have downloaded from sxc.hu.
Is is possible that Getty would remove an image from sxc.hu and place it in the main Getty site and claim that I am using it without permission?

entirely possible..and they probably did.

Sounds like their m.o. But of course they may have done it across a company re-organization so that they have plausible deniability that they did nothing wrong in cases like yours. ;)
