I received a Getty letter (which I believe to be the first) referring to "imagery used without a valid license". It's possible our web designer may have done so, but without knowing what these image(s) in question are, it's hard to know for sure. If an earlier letter was sent, no one here has any recollection of it.

Should I ask for them to supply me with references to these images, or just move directly to the Oscar letters?

If you wish to fight it yourself, you could ask.  I would not do so by phone or email, only snail mail.  That preserves a record for you and nobody can claim that they didn't receive an email or twist words around that might have happened in a phone call.

If you are definitely going to hire Oscar, anyway, there is no need to waste your time writing a letter.  I am fairly certain that process will result in them finding an image they claim rights to.

That's glitch I have not heard of before  so we should label it #gettyflubs. They can hardly ask you to pay for infringing an image when they wont tell you which image it is.
