Copyright Defense League masquerading as a law firm?
« on: September 14, 2012, 11:46:44 AM »
Is the “Copyright Defense League” masquerading as a law firm?  That’s illegal.
Additionally, they have practically NO web presence… where are they getting customers from?
Think about it…

Purely speculation at this point, but here's what I think!
I think they are in bed with National Photo Group LLC out of California, and they hunt down "alleged" infringements for them..In order to keep the machine running they are sending out email to other lawyers soliciting them to become copyright trolls, while at the same time discussing "referral fees" / commissions and price structure" which also may not be legal...Hence we are working hard to find out more about Dan B. Levine, and whether he is a lawyer or acting as one.. I have a message out to someone who has several emails and a hard copy "letter" from a law firm, I'm hoping to get this letter so we can see just who the law firm is, and then maybe tie Copyright Defense league to said firm...have no fear it will all come together and be shown publicly in the near future..

Most questions have already been addressed in the forums, get yourself educated before making decisions.

Any advice is strictly that, and anything I may state is based on my opinions, and observations.

I agree!!

However, I do wonder if they were operating as a law firm in the past (or even at present). Similar to Righthaven.
I'd be interested to know what "lawyer" contacted that blogger discussed in another thread.
If this "lawyer" is a principal of, or is employed by "Copyright Defense League", then that would be a problem...
The letter stated that he/she represented "Copyright Defense League", but not the end client (which I would normally assume to be a photog or artist.

Just speculation, mind you. But...
