Getty letter received today...

Hi All,

Received a settlement demand letter from Getty Images today asking for $875 for 1 unauthorized image found on our company website.
We did not select or use this image for our website.  The image was found in the link exchange banner from another company (our sales rep/an independent contractor).  This image is also used on its homepage.  We merely reflected our sales rep's home webpage on our Sales Network section.   I don't know if this independent sales rep company have a license from Getty to use this image or not, but I've took off the image from our site regardless and wrote an email to Getty explaning the situation.  Hope this will be the end of it as it should not be my battle anyway, correct?   Any thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreicated...

Let me see if I understand this correctly...the image in question was taken from another site, and hosted on your server under your domain?? If so it will be your battle to fight, as the other site may have license to use the image, but that doesn't give them the okay to let you use the image, hence you get the letter and problems associated with it.

I suggest you take some time to read the prior posts forum topics and videos that are on this site as your question is very general and has been addressed many times throughout this site.  If after you do that you still have specific questions unanswered by those areas let us know  Thanks for posting!
