Halloween display website under fire

Hi, we put Halloween decorations in our front yard every year and the kids of the community drive-by with their families. We also have a spooky Halloween website for the display for the community to visit. As a favor a few years ago, a friend who designs websites made us a short Flash file (.swf) intro video to our website for free. The Flash intro video file contains a couple photos of us in costume and some Halloween images shown as a video slide show along with scary music. It is short. Each photo appears for a few seconds. We just received "the letter" accusing us of using two copyrighted images and demanding $1750 USD. In this scary letter, we are referred to as a company or business, but we are not. We are just a family and honestly had no idea. Please help. Thanks ! Halloween.
