I-Stock Photo
« on: September 29, 2011, 02:44:41 PM »
Does I-Stock photo also send out letters? I know they are owned by Getty, I also realize that alot of the images on i-stock are available at Getty as well.. Just curious, as I'm way beyond using any stock image companies at this point.
Most questions have already been addressed in the forums, get yourself educated before making decisions.

Any advice is strictly that, and anything I may state is based on my opinions, and observations.

On a somewhat similar note, I use iStock from time to time, and I purchase "pay as you go credits" that allow me to download an image and pay for it with credits.  Problem is I never get a receipt for a specific image, just a receipt for the purchased credits.  What's to prevent Getty, who owns iStock, from demanding payment if I fail to produce a receipt for an image I purchased via pay as you go credits?

Strange about the I-Stock credits policy.
I'm quite surprised.

From the stories that I've read on the forum, it appears that it's "Getty" that goes after the infringements even if the photo appears on I-Stock also.
I surmise that this must be because "Getty" is the "premium brand" and commands higher prices.

I guess that Getty's also the "headquarters" for their infringement chasing.

I notice that within iStock there is a download history section that keeps track of the downloads you've had. This seems to obviously validate your purchase/usage.
