I've Been Contacted 5 Times (so far)

As my title states, I have been contacted 5 times from Getty & McCormack so far, consisting of 2 big fat letters from Getty, 2 letters & 1 email from McCormack.  (There may have been more email, but got caught as spam)  I started coming to this forum after the first letter, and visit on and off regularly, just to see how everyone's stories are going.  So I thought I'd share my story.  The snapshot that Getty sent me was taken in the Fall of 2011, but they did not contact me until 4 to 5 months later.  I know this because I change my images quite often and I know the time period that this image was displayed.  I won't go into details about how I got the image, how I thought it was free, etc.  We've all been there, we all now know how that goes.  My bill is now hitting on $2,000 for 1 itsy bitsy image.   (even better....for only $300, they will put me on a payment plan)
I'm just curious......what's the statute of limitations in our cases dealing with Getty?  (I've read that it's 3 years) Or better yet, when will they stop contacting me?  Anyone got any idea?  I've got a sneaking suspicion that the 3 year statute won't hold them back any.

The staute is 3 years from when they discover the  so called infringement, if they and you have the screen shot that is dated it would be 3 yrs from them..to bad for them they let 4-5 months pass by.. They may continue to contact afterwards, but a quick reply telling them the statute has passed, and that you will file complaints with the porper offices will surely quiet them down.. I doubt Timothy B McCormack would welcome complaint to the bar association for such an issue..
