@ Patrice, glad to see you did not fall victim, but be aware, just because it's been nine months doesn't mean it has gone away. The statute is 3 years, so you have awhile to go . Don't be surprised if you get the now infamous letter from Timothy McCormack hounding you more...we have ways outlined here in the forum of dealing with this ass-hat..

@ Gettyhater, first thing you need to do is get educated as to the whole process..you also need to know that this is a claim not a debt, I don't know the laws in the UK, but you may want to throw this back in the collection agency's hand, explaining this to them, they have no right to collect on a claim!

They may claim it's a debt, but it's still a claim, they have nothing on paper stating you have done business with them and owe them..They are trying to adapt to the changing landscape thanks to ELI, but as in the past, they don't seem to have their ducks in a row....

Thanx for the heads up on this one, I'll block it via robots.txt as well as the useragent with htaccess..
I've been blocking 80 legs for a long time because they crawl too aggressively. I read it's blog -- it too is doing some copyright snooping (for fonts.)

You can try robots.txt first. They claim to obey it. (I can't say. I now have a dynamic robots.txt and just ban anything I would forbid.)
This is a distributed agent using a wide range of IPs. So you must block by user agent.

A user on my facebook group ( not the ELI FB page) submitted this on Thursday, I'm not in a position to do much research but wanted to share. Feel free to do some digging, or I'll get on it when I get back..Just another sleaze ball company that deserves some ELI love and free PR.

I firmly believe , this is one reason why Getty hardly ever files suit, not only do they have weak cases, they are also afraid of getting called out..without filing suit, they can continue to fly under the radar and send out letters. As we all know a certain percentage of recipients, get freaked and pay, thus keeping the trolling machine alive.
In this article from the website FightCopyrightTrolls.Com Judge Wright actually calls copyright troll Leemore Kushner and her P2P Malibu Media lawsuits an extortion scheme.
I realize that the percentage of actual cases are very few but people like Judge Wright calling the trolls out on what they are doing will reduse the number even more.

1. Picscout operates out of Israel, hence they don't play by US rules
2. Picscout scans for imges and would never "read" any disclaimer
Unless your hoping to get business from Israel, it's easiest to just block israel altogether at the server level, if you can't do this yourself, your web-host should be able to do it for you..Albeit you may have to get a dedicated IP.

If you're feeling ripped off, why settle?? A settlement is something agreed to by both parties.

You should at the very least drop Aprils; last name so she can be added to the running list of trolls..
If I were you I would reading, perhaps consider a 50.00 support call, and also Oscars Program, they are all better options than charging 1000.00!
