I think people should also know that I sometimes bust my ass doing research and graphics, but I get paid much more in satisfaction than money could ever provide!

People do need to know that you "volunteer" your time as time permits to make forum posts, replies, and the videos. But Oscar absolutely does not get any of the ELI Contributions. ELI Contributions comes to the bank account that is dedicated tracking online projects of which ELI is a part of.

Thank you Matt for clarifying that I do not receive "donations" (nor do I receive any part of the donations people make to keep this site going).  I receive legal fees for services rendered.

Hiring Oscar is not an option, as this is a UK case, and Oscar is a US Attorney..

I have, I can't find a definitive answer for what to do. Some people say ignore, some say settle out of court and some say contact them. This is really causing quite a bit of distress now.

I suggest you should hire Oscar for that (only if you can afford to spend $195 for the Getty Images letter). How many images do you have copied unintentionally from them? It is highly doubtful that you can be taken to court for this kind of case only.

Okay, this is just getting ridiculous. Artist Maya Hayuk is suing RCA and Sony Music because a mural she painted -- and which appears to be in a public area -- appears (rather briefly) in the background of a music video by Elle Varner

Getty does indeed have tax information listed in the state of texas, I'm still unclear if this permits them to collect sales tax, as I see it this allows them to issue resale certificates..

I'll take a stab here at a couple of items..

1. if you company gets several letters per year from Getty, your company's legal team is not to bright to begin with. they need to draft a letter back to getty stating the comany has nothing to do with this domain.
2.  would not contact until, they contact you directly, with a new fresh letter.
3. you hosting provider doesn't supply a phone number?? They must be real professional! Don't count on them for anything, as apparently they don't even want to talk to clients / potential clients....

I hope you at least removed the images and removed them from archive.org as well in the meantime.

Picscout gets no free pass from me!, they were hammering my boxes on a continual basis, thus stealing and sucking my bandwidth, and disguising the user-agent to boot, If i did this and rummaged thru getty's server and got caught, they would certainly come after me...I strongly suggest to go to any lenghts to block them, even if it means contacting your web host, just tell them to look at the logs, if they care about their business, then take measures to prevent picscout from getting in.

Love the cringe factor. Love the humor, photos, poems, satire, buffoonery and intelligent dialogue. On the face of this most of the trolling activities are laughable and unbelievable until you put a face on their bullying. So please keep the fun coming. It is also great to have real actions one can take while the dramas play out. Wordpress plugin - brilliant. Wish we had a program that would search out the poem on the "world wide web" - (did you just love how linda drawled that out), next send a warning to the innocent infringer and finally a link to The Dash Between. Is that possible?

There would likely be issues with sending warning and the CAN SPAM ACT, not to mention so many sites have captcha's these days, there would be no way to automate it.. There's no way we're going to save the world, and I think our efforts are better spent bringing it to the public eye
