After many requests for an audio update, Oscar and I are happy to announce we have completed a series of 3 telephone interviews. There were so many new topics/issues to discuss and update, we had to do 3 separate interviews so that we could better separate the various topics/issues.  

The new October 2010 telephone interviews (in MP3 format) will be posted into our Subscriber Only area. If you have not already subscribed, you should do so. There is no charge to enter our Subscriber-Only area. You only have to submit your email address.

The new phone interviews are:

1. Oscar Michelen's Move to Cuomo LLC
2. 2010 Updates to the Getty Images and Masterfile Settlement Demand Letter controversy
3. Bernina vs. Riddick/Imageline Case Commentary

To all ELI community members:

Today, I called and spoke with my friend and business partner, Attorney Oscar Michelen.

With his permission, I am writing to let everyone know that he has been in transition of moving his law practice to another prominent law firm in New York. Simultaneously, he was trying an intensive case. This began last week and continues into this week.

As such, many of phone messages left at his "old" law firm have been greatly delayed reaching him. He has also not had access to emails to his "old" email address for nearly a week. He hopes to resolve that soon. This interruption of service is a temporary situation.

Oscar is excited about the recent change and you can expect Oscar to make a formal announcement as he expands his law practice and online presence beyond what most of you know him for: the leading legal authority in the U.S. regarding defending against the Getty Images (and other stock photo companies) Settlement Demand Letters.

Effective immediately, Oscar MIchelen's direct email address is: [email protected]. He is working on securing a public phone number for his new law office. Check back on this thread for the latest contact information.

In the meantime, I ask everyone to be patient as Oscar makes this transition to his new law firm and practice. He has also informed everyone to be prepared for a substantial amount of new information during our next phone interview.

If it is not SIIA helping Riddick, then who is helping him? All indications point to the idea that Riddick cannot afford expensive legal counsel.

Also, why would SIIA not help Riddick again?  Is there a story you can share here?

I am clearly not Oscar but I surmise that the SIIA doesn't want a "dangerous" ruling to occur, hence a legal precedent to be set, simply because Riddick is unqualified to make legal arguments.

The SIIA supposedly represents a consortium of players or industry that have a vested interest in not having unfavorable laws or rulings occur.  Hence, the SIIA assists in spite of what they think of Riddick.

That is an educated guess also based on Oscar's prior remarks on the subject.

Adding to what Oscar wrote, there is a high likelihood that Riddick's corporations are shell companies with little or no assets. Hence, there is very little worth protecting.  Not that I am taking up for Riddick but I wouldn't spend much money defending a shell or worthless corporation.  It is easier to simply dissolve the corporation and start another.

Yes, I have been receiving file updates but since maintaining this site is a volunteer and non-paying job, it has secondary priority. I squeeze in updates when I find moments to spare.
