Yup, it would appear this guy likes to file suit, as shown in the below screen capture. I only looked at 2 of the most recent cases, both settled out of court, but both were probably for large amounts as one was against American Express, and the other McGraw-Hill ( the publisher), both big companies with deep pockets.

I may be wrong here, but I think if there is a registered agent and that information is clearly available on the site, Getty would HAVE TO by law send the request, then if the image was not removed the registered agent as well as the accused infringer could be held liable...

Another thing with DMCA is that if the domain owner is also the registered agent, they would not be covered by the safe harbor of DCMA if they themselves uploaded copyrighted materials.

I'm sure your referring to my dog right? I don't know what happened, maybe I got demoted or something. Not even a lime green box either..

I'm not sneaking out the back, sorry but your stuck with me and the only way to get rid of me, is to pay me an extremely high dollar amount...say like 5.00.

The problem with the avatar is the option for no avatar cannot be unchecked, it is selected by default..I don't think that was the "handsome" avatar that Peeved was referring to either.

THERE is that handsome avatar I was talkin' about! So nice to hear we are stuck with you!

Public or private will not affect your rankings, what Google looks at is for how long the domain has been registered, as longevity comes into play in search results.

Yeah, that seems like an exaggeration. I wonder how many cases Mr. Psihoyos has really been involved in. It seems to me that a case of Hollywood-style boasting had ended up turning around and biting him in the bottom.

I'll bite...

IF you feel compelled to make an offer, find out how much a similar image is selling for on other sites for a 1 year license, divide by 4 and make an offer of that amount...I just pulled that out of my hat, because they will NOT accept any offer you make unless it is the full amount. The back and forth will continue as long as you allow it to, plain and simple..

This is a truly fascinating new case filed in late December...

Not only is Getty, Corbis and Superstock being sued, but the photographer is also named and apparently said photographer registered these images wrongfully, and to add salt to the wound said photographer has made a very good income from copyright infringement lawsuits himself!!

I can see Getty crying "innocent infringement", but as we all know ingnorance is not a valid defense!!!

The short answer is probably not, and that would likely just stir the pot, you would be better suited to offer an amount ( which they would probably turn down), and IF they sued at least you have it on record that you at least tried to work with them. If you really want them to stop, pay Oscar the 195.00 to represent you with a letter, if you don't want to pay that , you'll just need to get used to the fact that you will be involved in this for some time..up to 3 years in fact.

I can not locate this image as being registered with the copyright office.

I'm beginning to think that the general FAQ that i sent does indeed come from Picscout, and is probably dynamically generated based on the login of attorney /rep for each company.

I have also search rfcexpress and have not located any suits, will search pacer later.

And as much as we are loathe to admit it, Getty's approach starts looking much more professional and attractive when compared to Imageline, HAN, and their lawyers.

Why was my demand letter asking $10,000...everyone else seems to be getting letters for sooooooooooo much less???

Funny how I actually did gain a very small amount of respect for Getty images, compared to these other asshats, but that respect has now been lost in light of Oscar's recent post about the folks doing work for veteran in Kentucky..Getty Images and the rest have no heart, scruples or anything. They are all  scummy trolls of the highest order!
