Lucia - you nailed it! I just want to add that in over 800 Getty cases, I have never had to charge beyond the letter program fee. This June it will be five years strong!

Robert hit it on the head - It's usually one letter (you get a draft and a final version) and then no news is good news. Updates about the Getty situation are usual posted on the website here so that's how best to keep track if anything has changed. The letter goes out in the name of the letter recipient so that they are no longer contacted directly by Getty

Do not overly engage them in communication, they may come down a bit in price but they will not go away totally. Take a look at some of the forum posts that  deal with the topic generally and some of the videos to get yourself acclimated to the issue. Our letter defense program does mean that they will stop contacting you directly.

I see no reason why your case will be the first one of this nature Getty puts into suit. Keep track of the statue of limitations date - 3 years from the date on the first Getty letter your received is the safest starting point.

Getty is not seeding its own images to entrap folks.  They simply don't need to (a) They make more than enough money from their image licensing and sale business; (b)They make more than enough money from their copyright infringement business; and (c) template makers are notorious for using unauthorized images in their templates so there's enough of that work out there legitimately that Getty doesn't need to create any new cases and possibly expose themselves to liability.
