you need to password protect the image directory, they use bots to scan the file structure and can most likely bypass your secure entry. Better yet, you should vet all of the images you use, those without a valid license should be culled. Just my 2 cents.

they certainly do talk to each other, hell Poet Troll Linda Ellis had Getty Troll Timothy B McCormack file an amicus brief and also had him show up at oral argument in at the Georgia Supreme Court..both epic fails I might add..I doubt they communicate that they have found "suckers", but anything is possible with these douche bags.. I'm curious as to where you 3 letters came from and if picscout was involved on some level..my guess would be most likely. Tis is exactly why we also stress to vet every single image, after you get one letter..In most cases it's a bot/spider finding the images and not a real person.

at the end of the day, the BBB is pretty much useless, in regards to the AG's that would be state by stae depending on where the troll does business.. Masterfile is a Canadian company, and I don't know what their equivilent would be, but as I understand it Carolyn Wrights office is now working with MF and she is US based.. The thing with complaints is making sure you do them correctly, due your due diligence to make a legit complaint..Complaints to the AGs' and to state bar association, if nothing else will force them to at least spend time replying, which in turns means more of their "billable" hours are burned away.

The days of a "cease and desist" are over and probably won't ever come back, thats why we have DMCA now, but many sites do not have a registered agent, especially small business and mom/pop sites.

That said, I did dig up three actual lawsuits (see above) that these bastards have apparently filed over a single image. No information about the case actually proceeding and in each case Oscar is mentioned as having never responded.  Makes me a little nervous about the letter-writing program, but still.

can you please supply links to these 3 cases you mention, I am going to look into this, but I suspect that masterfile is mentioning Oscar and him not responding to "ding" him and his reputation.. Trust me if Oscar was "retained" to represent someone he would do just that, he is very well known and respected and he would not simply blow this off, as it would be damage that reputation.
As stated previously the letter program is not the same as retaining his services, and he is not obligated to respond to anything he is not retained for.

I'm not sure of the specifics, but I do know that the defense letters includes 1 letter to the trolling company and one follow up leeter if need be, the the trolls file lawsuit it is up to the recipient to then hire counsel, whether it be oscar or another firm, Oscar was never retained in this case. In terms on not hearing back from Oscar or his office it lies with the recipient to follow up with his office, The defense letter program is not a number one priority in terms of his actual law practice, and sometimes things fall through cracks.

I beleive they contacted Oscar, and he never responded simply because he was NEVER retained by them. I'm not sure whether they were a part of the letter program either, but there is a huge differrnce between the letter program and retaining Oscar to defend a lawsuit.

Looks like they have filed suit 3 times so far this year..whether this is "stepping up" is open to interpretation.. I'm fairly certain Carolyn Wrights office is now involved with them, and she's pretty well known in the photogrpahy world.
