plan on playing for 3 years...thats how long the game lasts..

Just because the image is oon Getty's site doesn't mean they own it! and they never provide any proof they do own anything..they just want you money plain and simple. What power getty has depends on the contract between them and the artist, but they don't divulge that either..

P2P/BitTorrent Lawsuits Forum / Re: Is Pic Scout spying on people?
« on: July 19, 2013, 07:03:21 AM »
I received my first GI-extorsionletter last month en the second one 4 weeks later.
I don't know anything about inf. tech., I'm educating myself af quickly as possible, so I'm probably asking stupid questions.
On the www I read very disturbing things, rumour goes around that PicScout is downloading a copy of your entire website, is that even possible, or legal?
Does this mean that they can use this data for future clients?
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100207125204AA1Id9a

yes it is possible to download entire sites, I have software that does just that..naturally I only use it for legit purposes...Picscout does indeed rummage thru all directory's looking for images, pdf files, and other files that may contain infringing material.. I would not label it "spying" by any means... Bootom line if you have anything on your servers that you don't want anyone to see, you need to password protect it.. Google the word "fusking" and become enlightened..

I'm officially adopting Mulligan as my dad...since i have none, sorry Mulligan you and the missus are stuck with me. One day i'd actually like to see a bit of Mulligans real writings..(hint, hint) He's much like my favorite authors Tim Dorsey and Carl Hiassen, you just never know what is coming next..

THIS: Or is GI being legally hypocritical about copyright infringement?

They like to make their own rules as they see fit...

Getty Images Letter Forum / Re: Getty vs. Porn Trolling Model
« on: July 18, 2013, 07:26:20 AM »
Same idea, different model..the main difference would be that Prenda would files 1 suit naming many does, thus avoiding many 350.00 filing fees, and once they filed they would subpeona the ISP to get the user info behind the IP... Getty rarely files suit...because they know they would most likely loose, with the exception of a few hand picked cases, which they like to use as examples..

849
Looks like I'll be visiting PACER to get these 20 lawsuits that have been filed...Paul Harris and Sanders law are going to get a ride on the ELI karma train..

850
there are no "liabilities for you using tineye to research images...whoever can you explain how tineye is telling you whether images are public domain or copyrighted?

FYI: Copyright exists at the moment of creation, so a good majority of images are copyrighted..

851
Getty Images Copyright Specialist Nancy Moron...er Monson must live in a third world communist country...She expects you to prove your innocence...sorry  Nancy, maybe Lisa Wilmer never explained to her that here in the states one is until proven guilty, and it is up to them to prove that.. If they take you to court, the judge would determine what it would cost you...chances are good that the image is not registered, so they could not go after the entire shabang.. a reasonable judge would probably award the minimum of 200.00 and this jerk-off Nancy Monson knows this..

852
The reason Getty does not supply registration #'s when requested is very simple...most of their images are NOT registered, plain and simple...and the ones that are may be suspect if they were registered in bulk...see the chaga case for more details.

853
It's probably National Photo Group, asshat Sanders is already known to us..I believe NPG deals with "celebrity" images...there are a couple threads here somewhere relating to them...

UK Getty Images Letter Forum / Re: CEG / AKM emails sent to me
« on: July 16, 2013, 08:48:10 AM »
Thanks for the information. I have read many of posts and some say you have to respond just in case they take you to court. They say I should ask them to provide evidence I infringed the copyright as well as the agreement CEG has with AKM images.

Also I should ask how they came up with the price they are trying to make me pay to settle.

Generally if you receive a registered letter that you singed for, it would be prudent to respond..the fact that they were cheap and emailed you, says nothing but scam..also you should not have to "ask for evidence" they should simply provide it..which they don't. Feel free to engage them if you wish, it will just generate a continuos back and forth designed to wear you down... just my opinions here, you must make the decision ob how to proceed.

Should I email CEG? - -NO absolutely not, they have no way of knowing if you ever got the email
What should I say? - NOTHING
Should I tell them I am in debt already and have no money at all? - NO
Will they come after my parents since I cannot pay? - NO
If I was taken to court how would they make me pay as I have no money? - They can't make you pay, even if you had money
Will I get a criminal record if I was taken to court? - It's a civil matter not criminal, so NO
Would it be a magistrates court? - No clue, but chances are very slim they would sue over 1 or 2 images
Will I get a bad mark against my financial record? - NO

Any help would be much appreciated, I have look through countless forums and I am leaning towards emailing them back using a disposable email and hiding my identity as much as possible.

Thanks

do more reading, get better educated, and do not concern yourself with the "deadline to pay" it's largely a scare tactic, and as I have stated earlier, they have no way to confirm you even got their email in the first place..
