I saw this last week, and it was outstanding!

The tactful cactus by your window
Surveys the prairie of your room
The mobile spins to its collision
Clara puts her head between her paws
They've opened shops down West side
Will all the cacti find a home
But the key to the city
Is in the sun that pins
the branches to the sky

bottom line is they want your money, they won't reduce it by much, student or not, working or not..they also will not supply you any documentation, you'll just go in circles with for a few years.. only you can decide what is best for your situation..

Lisa, unfortuantley hiring Oscar is NOT an option for you, as you are in the UK, and Oscar is a New York attorney, I'm not sure what the statute is over there either, if i were you I would focus on the UK thread only as alot of the other info available won't apply to you.

One of the most damning accusations against copyright-trolling operation Prenda Law is that the attorneys who manage it engaged in identity theft. Corporate papers on Prenda shell companies were signed by Alan Cooper, the former housekeeper of John Steele. Cooper has said someone else signed his name; Prenda-linked lawyers have said Cooper is basically crazy.

"You're not going to get damages out of me," she told Godfread. "I don't give damages when everyone is a fraud."

A federal district court has awarded $1.3 million to a Texas design firm in an architectural copyright case, according to Houston law firm Osha Liang.

In the lawsuit, Hewlett Custom Home Designs of Houston claimed that Frontier Custom Builders, Inc. infringed Hewlett's copyrighted designs in violation of federal law. Hewlett's clients include Fortune 500 executives as well as celebrities such as retired NBA star Charles Barkley, now an analyst with TNT's Inside the NBA.

A jury in U.S. District Judge Ewing Werlein Jr.'s courtroom on May 9 found that Frontier committed copyright infringement by constructing and marketing 19 houses that infringed Hewlett's copyrighted designs. Frontier's owner, Ronald Wayne Bopp, was also held personally liable for Frontier's activities.

The New York Times’ legal response to a startup whose software allows publishers to replicate the look of the NYT’s Snow Fall feature goes so far above and beyond a simple cease-and-desist it becomes ridiculous.

additionally I would not respond to that asshat Michael Hilsheimer from Masterfile via email, if it were me I would simply set-up an email filter to block any emails from Masterfile, send them to the spam folder and also send a rejection notice back to this asshole...an email "reaching your server" means nothing except that..but yeah getting Oscar involved might be a good idea..

The four lawyers linked to the Prenda Law copyright-trolling organization were slapped with an $81,000 sanctions order, which as of today, they have missed the deadline to pay. They did make time to file a last-minute motion to delay the sanctions, which only got referred back to the judge who's angry at them in the first place: US District Judge Otis Wright.

Today Wright issued an order, predictably, denying the request by the Prenda crew for more time. The order https://cdn.arstechnica.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Prenda.order_.164.pdf asks them to explain "why they have contravened the Court's order to pay the attorney's-fee award," which, to be precise, is $81,319.72. It also orders them to pay $1,000 "per day, per person or entity, until this attorney's-fee award is paid or a bond for the same amount is posted... Failure to comply will result in additional sanctions."

interesting, I'm surprised ebay lets things like this be sold... I just found this in like 5 seconds, and it is jam packed with "stock" images, and i'd be willing to bet the seller does not have the the rights to "resell" the images contained in these templates. This is very similar to the templates I purchased almost 15 years ago, and the license i have reads almost exactly the same as this guy has on ebay..

I would be tempted to contact ebay, and explain your situation, if nothing else they may remove the seller from doing future business.

your link brings up a 404 not found error..I would like to see this and possibly comment if I can make heads or tails of it.

« on: May 18, 2013, 06:31:44 AM »
Thanks for the lengthy and well thought out response! I suspected this case had more to do with something other than "copyright infringement', but whenever I get the chance I always attempt to throw them under the bus. Getty did in fact enter a motion to dismiss, I will have to go back into PACER to see what other documents I can find, I think I may have seen something about an amended complaint or something..Keep in mind I'm not a lawyer, i'm just your everyday image thief : )

Pot meet Kettle...Getty is accused of selling/marketing images on their site for which they did not have permission..probably an honest mistkae on their part i'm sure..

you can grab the court docs below:

Let's not forget about Rock Photo either.  Anyone have an update on that case?

I mighthave to go into pacer see if there is anything new on this case...been awhile now

Yeah you'd think since Getty is so protective of their "so called" copyrights, and they have all these in house and outside IP attorneys, that they would also have a clue about trademark infringement...dare i mention the scented tree case...they tried to weasel out of that one as well.. They like to claim "honest mistakes" but god forbid a US Veteran collecting smokes for fellow veterans and making ZERO dollars claims to make an honest mistake... Jonathan Klein and the rest of Getty images including outside counsel Seattle Attorney Timothy B. McCormack and his crew of sleazebag clerks or nothing other that douche bags and jerk-offs of the highest magnitude...

Other than that I don't feel to strongly about it..end of rant
