All the important information that people need regarding Julie, Brandon and Hawaiian Art is now out there.
Other sites will pick up on it too.  So, mission accomplished, and well done.

"Upper Canada" is in fact Southern Ontario.
Strangely, "Lower Canada" refers to a northern part (Newfoundland, Labrador and a section of Quebec).
These terms go back to the time of the British Colonies.

But, I don't expect anyone south of the Mason-Dixon line to know all this.  lol.

I think that you'd be interested in the "Law Society of Upper Canada":

The lawyers probably had no hand in posting the images on wallpaper sites far and wide.
But, I suspect that they know more about all of this than they'd let on.
All three lawyers are extremely aggressive about subverting information.

I mean, phony DMCA takedown notices?
That's all the evidence that I needed...

Firstly, thanks to all for their very hard and diligent work here.
I'm sure that it's a comfort to many that there are those who work to fight this.

Secondly, it's interesting to see that these lawyers have so much time on their hands that they have time to Google their own name.

With regard to ELI linking to content on other sites such as Scribd, we will recall that US law doesn't consider linked content from site "A" to copyrighted material on site "B" to be an infringement by site "A".

In any case, it seems absurd to me that these lawyers would use claims of "copyright infringement" to attempt to hide what they are doing.

When somebody goes through a great deal to hide their actions, their moral compass should be telling them that they're doing something wrong.
I'm sure that Oscar would agree that legal issues should be as open as possible in our society, lest we pay a heavy price.

I think it's time to report Bandon Sand to the California Bar Association for sending his extortion letter into another country.

I'm quite sure that the two attorney's mentioned don't care one bit.
But, if they do care, they can best show that through their actions.

I get the feeling that these types of lawyers work on a contingency basis.
So, they probably don't check into into anything beforehand; they don't even bother to send proof of ownership/registration.
They probably don't even ask if the image is registered, unless it's an actual lawsuit issue.
It's a faceless volume business.

---

The Canadian lawyer sent an extortion letter to a Canadian resident.
She tried to bully Oscar in the 'states, tho.

---

You may recall that Brandon Sand sent a letter from California to a Canadian resident in the past.
He seems to have disappeared from the scene for now, though.

Well done indeed, good sirs.

Time to copyright the phrase "settlement demand letter".
All the political correctness that dirty money can buy...
The words "extortion letter" can remain free for trolls like Mr Holt to use.

You're quite right.  Go to the link that "Extortion-Victim-No Longer" provided in a previous post:

Download the picture.  Now go to Google, click on "Images", click on the little camera icon next to the search box, click on "upload image", browse to the image that you downloaded and click "open".
Next scroll down to "Pages that include matching images", look at the listed pages.

The photo appears on more than 89 "FREE" wallpaper sites on the first 26 Google search pages alone.

Many will recall that the image in question was the subject of the infamous "Brandon Sand" extortion letter, seeking an astonishing $10,000.

I'd say that Hawaiian Art Network and photographer Tylor have a credibility problem.

The above is a good find, Buddhapi.
Apparently, they also search for "text" documents online, also.
Righthaven, anyone?

This was bound to happen sooner or later.
It's probably been ongoing for a while, too.

Maybe you've heard the saying "Hawaiian Art Plays, Dipshits Pay"?  lol.

These drama queens Stewart and Holt are really afraid of something.

I find it quite interesting that images which Hawaiian Art Network claims to own are also offered for sale elsewhere, as pointed out by Buddhapi:
http://www.webshots.com/pro/category/artist-vincent-khoury-tylor/nature-oceans

Such images can't be exclusively held by Hawaiian Art Network if the artist has also given permission for them to be sold on other commercial sites such as Webshots/American Greetings.
The "Turquoise Lagoon" photograph appears on both the Webshots site and the Hawaiian Art Network site, for example.  Yes, I checked.
That would mean that Hawaiian Art Network likely couldn't claim copyright infringement on those particular images.
Unless the artist has broken the contract.  Which is also a win for the alleged infringer.

Yes, the FREE images are interesting, too.  Even considering that there's probably "fine print" hidden somewhere, the free images dilute claims of large financial damages.
This could make the prospect of court impractical.

I don't think that it's that simple.
Also, it depends what country you're in... it's not so easy in some places.
Remember, the idea is also to make it as difficult as possible for trolls to harass you, (often over content that the trolls don't even own).
They give up pretty quick if the case is made very difficult.

Corbis, for example never caught up with Ultravertex, because all Corbis had was an email address, and the company (shrewdly) never responded to the lawsuit sent by email.
So, the concept of "they get you no matter what" is an urban legend.

Referring to the linked wiki article in my original post:

"Others, however, treat privacy more seriously, and host domain names offshore, even using e-gold or money orders in transactions so that the registrar has no knowledge of the personal information about the domain name owner in the first place (which would otherwise be transmitted along with credit card transactions)."

They'll never get the information.  The FBI doesn't give a shit about a couple of $50 images, either, so let's not go there.

Anyone else care to offer further input?

Getty Images Letter Forum / Has anyone tried a "domain privacy service"?

Hi All,

Has anyone tried a "domain privacy service"?

Here's one for example (I'm not associated with this business):
http://www.whoisprivacyservices.com.au/

If such a service is used, your contact info will appear something like this:
http://www.whoisprivacyservices.com.au/contact.htm

The site owner may be contacted through a service that can forward messages, but the owner of the site still remains anonymous.
It is the choice of the site owner whether or not to reply:
http://www.fabulous.com/whois/

There's some more information here:
