Getty Images Letter Forum / Re: Someone says this new forum "blows"
« on: May 12, 2011, 01:21:49 PM »
I like the new forum, and am not having any problems with it. It loads quickly, and I can easily read the text. Unless by "hard to read", the poster meant that the posts are not entertaining enough, or that they use too many big words.

Computers vary greatly, but there is usually a simple way to make type appear bigger on one's screen.

The best part of the forum? It's free! It takes a really classless person to whine about something that they are getting for free, anonymous or not. Suggestions, sure. Whining, not cool.

I really enjoyed the new video. I have already used Oscar's service without viewing any of your videos, but there was a lot of great background info there that I didn't know.

It's also nice to be able to see and hear from the "real people" who are fighting this battle on a daily basis. I applaud your efforts.

I just want to chime in and express that I appreciate this resource very much. I received the dreaded Getty letter in December, and it stressed me out to no end and has weighed heavily on me for months. As was mentioned already, you are already dealing with very emotional people who just want this problem to go away and now! Your website made me feel like I was not alone - and I don't say that about websites. There's just not another resource like it.

I have made use of Oscar's service, and am happy that I did. The wait time of 2 weeks did make me concerned - just because I had no guideline for how long the process should take or if my message had actually gotten through. Some of the unreasonable expectations can be mitigated by communicating Oscar's time contraints prominently - looks like that has already happened. Those who are rude, well, I hope those of us who are rational can drown out their whining. Oscar provides an optional service at a great price, and people are welcome to take their chances elsewhere if they are not happy. Also, they could very well be Getty trolls trying to undermine this site.

If nothing else, it's great to air the frustrations and get a dialogue started.

Got it. Thanks! I did reply with a minor question about the letter, but overall it looks great, and has far more impact than anything I could send as a layperson.

I appreciate your help. If I never hear from Getty Images again, it will be too soon.

Hi Oscar,

It has now been 2 weeks, and no reply to my e-mail submission. Nor has my payment been processed. It is a little nerve-wracking not knowing if you've received my paperwork or not.

I appreciate this service and understand you are very busy, but a short "I received your stuff" e-mail would be great.

Could I suggest perhaps adding a general timeline to the website, such as "Requests will be responded to within X weeks.."? I think that anyone using this service is already stressed out, and having a general idea of the turnaround would help to manage our expectations.

Thanks again for your service.

Jamie

Hello Oscar,

I'm also awaiting response on an e-mail and paperwork submitted last Monday (3/7). I did call your office to follow-up, and they told me that you were in court, so I'm not too concerned. Just wanted confirmation that my e-mail and documents were received.

Thanks!
